What to do with a 2.4cuft box with cutouts for 12" drivers?

  1. I have a 2.4 cuft box with two cut outs for 12" drivers. There's no cutout for an amplifier. It is currently loaded with an old 12" driver and 12" PR tuned to 22hz, but I've never been really happy with this subwoofer's performance.

Any thoughts on dropping in a magnum-12, keeping the PR and using a minidsp 2x4hd or nanodigi 2x8 to apply a 1st order low shelf? I do not need huge spl beyond 100db peaks, as this is for my living room and I have bedrooms directly adjacent. I'd probably continue to power it with the old 250w plate amp I have.

Does this seem viable, or are there better drop-in replacements? I have no wood working skills.
